Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry
All of us at David Eskow DDS aim for the highest quality care for our patients. An important part of that is making sure they feel as comfortable and safe as possible. Depending on individual need, some procedures may validate use of nitrous oxide mild sedation.
Commonly called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a mild, safe, short-term sedative that aids in alleviating anxiety as well as ameliorating severe gag reflexes. Nitrous oxide is quick to leave the body and its short-term effects make it so you child should be ready to go back to perform other activities as normal post-treatment.
Is Nitrous Oxide Safe?
Nitrous oxide has been proven to be a safe, short-term, and easily reversible mild sedation agent. You will remain awake, alert, and communicative throughout the visit. Of course, whether or not to use any form of sedation is a serious consideration. So, our experienced dentists will answer any questions or concerns you might have and provide tailored, patient-centered information and demonstrations to put you and your child at ease. This is not an option for everyone, and our highly-trained dentists use it sparingly and only when necessary.
